It was a touching scene: the daughters around their mother’s bed in the hospital, heavy and somber faces, red and watery eyes. Every person present trying to pick words of encouragement up, but in their heart, all of them experienced a sense of loss already ingrained in their spirits.

We can seriously say that we are not prepared for this moment, fatal and inevitable, which is the time for the return of our loved ones to the spiritual homeland. We are not. This is because even those who have been educated in some religion since childhood have not been taught in this respect. We study almost everything in programs of evangelization – in any denomination – but we do not talk about the “death” phenomenon. However “death” is life! And we have quoted this elsewhere.

Notice that we are prepared – always! – for various occasions: birthdays, holidays, weddings, holidays, Christmas, New Year, New Year’s Eve, Carnival …, and whatever else it may appear. But not only are we not prepared for a funeral ceremony, as we also do not know to say anything other than the well-known phrases as: “my condolences“, “my feelings“, “rest in peace“, “I am so sorry“. Fallacies!

Even worse when people of a strong and passionate temperament arise who do not accept what has happened – the separation -, and they begin to shout improprieties against the Godhead like: “- Why did God do this to me?“.

They do not understand – would it be possible try to make them understand? – that, in addition to suffering the loss, are also interfering, very often, in releasing of the creature that no longer animates its physical body, but that also cannot move itself away to another dimension due to the desperate calls they make to him at that moment.

It is well known that life on Earth is momentary. No matter how many years you will live, it will always be a great time spent here. Here we come, the spirits in need of learning, to pave the evolutionary journey alternating between Love and Pain to become better. This is fate. It is not by chance that Kardec’s grave, the tireless codifier of the Spiritist Doctrine, we read: “To be born, to grow, to die, to be reborn still and to progress always, such is the law.”

In some cases of illness, there are occurrences where there is the sudden improvement of the patient for the specific purpose of preparing the afflicted hearts of the relatives for the fatal outcome. This is when what is commonly called “the visit of health” occurs. Note also that in various distressful situations, the expected does not always occur.

Cases in which family and friends wait for the final moment, contrary to all expectations, it does not come. The patient recovers and life goes on. And there are situations where friends and family themselves pray for the outcome, believing that the sick person is already suffering too much and it is better that they “rest” by the way of death. Which is an illusion.

In the vast Spiritist literature, there are reports where the reader can verify the way of acting of Providence. Here a patient recovers and receives an additional time for family members to calm down, thereby avoiding the enormous burden of suffering that would be undue to the feelings of that group. There occurs the postponement because some objectives are yet to be achieved in that family collectivity. Not knowing the day and the hour when the thief will come, no one can say when it will be the final hour of whoever it is.
